Why I chose to study Japanese

I decided that I wanted to learn Japanese after going to Japan this summer. While I was there, I was intrigued by Japan's myriad of incredibly fascinating cultural landmarks, shopping and business centers, FOOD, amusement/entertainment venues, and a ton of other very fun stuff. I was also extremely impressed by the cleanliness and orderliness of the streets, the politeness and kindness of the people, and in general just the beauty of cities such as Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. As such, I decided that if possible, I would love to live/work/study in Japan for a period of time in the future. However, while I was in Japan, I realized that I was unable to completely immerse in the culture and environment due to my inability to speak Japanese. Therefore, to accomplish my dream of (or at least open up the opportunity to) living in  Japan in the future, I decided to pursue an education in the Japanese language.

  1. I've been a vegetarian all my life, and even then I could not help helping myself to some takoyaki and sushi when I had the chance. I would love to visit Japan and try out some of the real deal at some point in my life.
